LIFE-ANADRY: Main results and conclusions

Life-ANADRY project demonstrated the technical and economic feasibility of the correct environmental management of sludge in medium and small sized wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) using a dry anaerobic digestion (AD) process under thermophilic (55ºC) and mesophilic (35ºC) conditions.  The main conclusions are presented in the document [link]. More details will be presented in our layman's report.

The main results of the process under ermophilic (55ºC) and mesophilic (35ºC) conditions are illustrated in the table below:

Regarding the conclusions of the economic study, we concluded the following:

Successful Final Infoday of Life-ANADRY project

LifeANADRY , LIFEPROGRAMME , Innovation , wastewater , WWTP , Murcia

A successful Final Infoday of Life-ANADRY project took place yesterday at Murcia Science Park. During the day more than 100 people attended representing technicians from the public sector, private companies and research centers who were interested in knowing the technology. Joaquín Ruiz manager of ESAMUR made the opening statement of the day and he highlighted the importance of projects such as Life-ANADRY in the region. Pedro Simón explained the management of sludge carried out by ESAMUR and other ongoing projects of the company. The presentation of results of Life-ANADRY project was carried out by Javier Sánchez (DAM) and Enrique Aymerich (Ceit-IK4) on behalf of all project partners. In the second session of the event, several studies and projects related to the management of sludge, biomethane and agronomic valorization were presented. The day was concluded with a visit to the prototype installed at the WWTP of Alguazas in Murcia.

Final infoday of Life-ANADRY project

On February 26, the final infoday of LIFE ANADRY project will be held in the auditorium of the Murcia Science Park. The main results of the LIFE ANADRY project will be presented where experts will talk about sludge management, dry anaerobic digestion, circular economy and biogas valorisation.

On this day, the final results will be presented after 42 months of project, which allowed the design and construction of a pre-industrial dry anaerobic digestion plant, which has been operating under mesophilic and thermophilic conditions in the WWTP of Alguazas (Murcia).

This day will also bring together various stakeholders involved in sludge management and will make it possible to publicize new management alternatives in small / medium-sized WWTPs.

The LIFE-ANADRY project (ENV / ES / 000524) entitled "Dry anaerobic digestion as an alternative for the management and treatment of WWTP sludge" has been co-financed by the European Union within the LIFE program.

The project has been coordinated by the company Depura de Aguas del Mediterráneo (DAM) and the wastewater treatment and purification entity of the region of Murcia (ESAMUR), the Ceit-IK4 technology center, the Engineering and Development company participate as partners. Renewables (INDEREN) and Euro-Mediterranean information System on Know-how in the Water Sector (SEMIDE). This event will be in Spanish.

LIFE-ANADRY: Final Technical Meeting and Monitoring Visit 2019

Organised by the project coordinator Depuración Aguas del Mediterraneo S.L. (DAM), Life-ANADRY project consortium will hold their last technical meeting on 22nd January 2019 in Murcia. During the meeting the Project Officer and all partners will discuss the technical aspects of the project and the main results of the project and the planning for the final meeting which will take place in Murcia next month. The meeting will also include a visit to the LIFE-ANADRY prototype in Alguazas, Murcia.

During the meeting, partners will discuss the main results and the most relevant conclusions of the operation and monitoring of the prototype. They will also show the most relevant results about the dissemination and networking activities carried out during the project.

LIFE-ANADRY partners are collaborating to demonstrate the technical and economic feasibility of the correct environmental management of sludge in medium to small sized wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) in order to transfer the outcomes obtained to other areas with similar problems, at national and international levels.

During the development of the project, several technical actions have been conducted: design and construction of the prototype, start-up of the prototype and the study under thermophilic conditions. Now, the project is finalising the implementation of prototype under mesophilic conditions and conducting technical and economic feasibility studies and transferability actions to other WWTPs.[...]
